to do just a
short walk from your front door:

In addition to just sitting on your porch and watching the days go by (a favorite sport at Garden Island), you'll be able to partake in more active summer-time pursuits.
Besides excellent swimming in its crystal waters, Converse Bay offers exciting sailing in the prevailing offshore winds. Feel free to bring a sail or powerboat with you. Garden Island's mooring facilities will accommodate either. Rowboats and canoes are provided, as is badminton equipment, swings, slides and even a challenging "Jungle Jim" for the kids.
Lake Champlain is known for great fishing, particularly along the rocky shores and Island ledges. The depth of water in the nearby "big lake" drops off to deeper than 350 feet, so there's plenty of chances to land that prize catch.
When your mood calls for a walk in the woods, stroll leisurely through the miles of paths and walkways that wind throughout the island. Make sure you leave time to catch a sunset or two from the century-old Victorian gazebo.
Sometimes you need to get away from the most tranquil setting. At Garden Island getting away is as easy as calling the private launch and having it transport you the 500 yards to the mainland dock. No need to worry about the launch's schedule. It operates when you want it to.
Just a short drive from the mainland dock takes you to a full assortment of exciting vacation-time activities:
A wide range of shopping, including many factory outlets.
Four good golf courses and a driving range within 30 minutes, plus the spectacular "mountain" courses at Stowe and Sugarbush.
Tennis and horseback riding in the village of Charlotte.
The rich history of the Champlain valley. The Shelburne Museum contains perhaps the finest collection of early Americana to be found anywhere. Other exceptional one-day trips can be made to Mt. Mansfield, Ft. Ticonderoga, Mt. Philo, Stowe Village, Sugarbush and Ausable Chasm. Even the European charm of Montreal and Quebec City are just a few hours away.
